Nollywood actress Biola Fowosere has shared the emotional ordeal she endured following the breakdown of her marriage, revealing that she battled severe depression after her ex-husband allegedly abandoned her and their children.
Speaking during an interview on African A-List, the Yoruba movie star became emotional as she recounted the painful chapter of her life, saying she has never understood why her former husband left without offering any explanation.
According to the actress, she and her children did nothing to warrant being abandoned, adding that the unanswered questions have remained with her for years.
“The only person I’d really want to ask a question is my ex-husband. I’d really like to ask him what I did wrong because I did nothing before he left me and the kids. I want to ask what my children and I did to deserve what he did to us.”
Fowosere disclosed that the emotional trauma took a serious toll on her mental health, leading to a prolonged battle with depression. She said she spent one year and six months receiving treatment in the hospital, describing the experience as one of the darkest periods of her life.
“I spent one year and six months in the hospital battling depression after he left. I almost ran mad.”
The actress further revealed that she and her children have had no communication with her former husband since he left the family. According to her, all attempts at contact came to an end after he allegedly blocked them seven years ago.
“We are not in contact. Since he left, we haven’t seen him. He blocked us seven years ago.”
Fowosere’s emotional account has sparked reactions on social media, with many expressing sympathy for her and her children while commending her resilience in overcoming a difficult period in her life. Others also used the opportunity to highlight the importance of mental health support for individuals dealing with family breakdowns and emotional trauma.
