2027: “I Will Be on the Ballot” — Atiku Vows to Continue Presidential Bid Despite Court Ruling

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed not to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race despite a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja that reportedly nullified key leadership and nomination processes of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The ruling, delivered on Thursday by Justice Peter Lifu, affected the emergence of former Senate President David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola and other party officials as national officers of the ADC. It also reportedly nullified the nominations of candidates produced under the disputed party leadership.

Reacting to the development in a statement shared online, Atiku insisted that he remained committed to contesting the 2027 presidential election and declared that he would be on the ballot.

He maintained that Nigerians must be given the opportunity to determine the country’s future through a free, fair and credible electoral process.

The former Vice President also accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of using political pressure and legal manoeuvres to weaken opposition parties and move Nigeria towards a one-party state.

The development presents another challenge for the ADC as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party’s leadership and candidate nomination issues could have significant implications for its participation in the polls.
