DSS bars actor Chiwetalu Agu’s family from visiting him as they flies him to AbujaNollywood Veteran Chiwetalu Agu

Chiwetalu Agu, a veteran actor, has been flown to Abuja as part of a probe into his promotion of Biafra and reportedly instigating members of the public.

On October 7, 2021, near Upper Iweka in Onitsha, Anambra State, Agu was arrested by the Nigerian Army for wearing a Biafra costume while distributing bread and other goods to the needy.

The army accused him of recruiting support for the banned Indigenous People of Biafra, which has been accused of a number of terrorist attacks. He was then turned over to the DSS for further investigation and prosecution.

A family of the Nollywood star, on the other hand, informed Newsmen that they had been refused access to him.

The relative, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, stated that Agu was transferred from Anambra to Enugu and finally to Abuja.

He said that the DSS refused to visit him in Abuja.

“We spent two days trying to ascertain his whereabouts. We were later informed that he was moved to Enugu and then Abuja.

“We heard that the idea is to move him away from the South-East. We have made efforts to see him, but the DSS has not granted us access. Even the lawyers have not been allowed to reach him,” the relative said.

Attempts to get a response from DSS spokesman, Dr. Peter Afunaya, proved abortive as he rejected calls; while a text message had not yet been responded.
