Charmingpro reports that A Junior Secondary school student’s body was recovered three days after she was swept away by flood in Ikare Akoko, the headquarters of Ondo State’s Akoko North East Local Government Area.

On Tuesday, June 21, Motunrayo John, a student at St. Carmel School in Ikare-Akoro, was swept away around the River Dada in the Semusemu area of Ikare Akoko.

 

 

According to one of the students, the victim was playing in the rain and measuring the depth of the flood when she lost her balance and was swept away. Her friends’ attempts to pull her back were futile.

 

 

Mr Olatujoye Akinwale, Divisional Police Officer for Ikare Akoko, confirmed the development on Friday June 24, saying the girl’s lifeless body was discovered at the back of a hotel in Ugbe Akoko after a search party was organized by residents of the area.

 

The DPO stated that the girl’s remains had been released to the family for burial.

 

Speaking about the tragic incident, the deceased’s father, Mr Ade John, a commercial motorcyclist, described his daughter’s death as “shocking, sad, and devastating.”

 

 

He explained his last interaction with his late daughter that morning when he paid her bus fare.

 

 

“I paid her N200 for transportation from Lkare to Lboropa that day because I would not be available to take her home. I was later informed of the dreadful development, much to my surprise. It’s truly shocking, heartbreaking, and devastating “he said.

 

He described his late daughter as a kind and responsible child who always did many household chores for her parents.
