During a routine patrol in the axis around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, operatives of the Ogun State-owned security outfit, So-Safe Corps, apprehended the suspect.

The corps’s spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf, said in a statement on Friday, June 24, that the suspect tried to flee when security officers wanted to find out where the cables in his possession came from.

Yusuf stated that during the interrogation, the suspect confessed to stealing the cables near where he was apprehended.

“It took the team hours to get to the actual location where the cables were stolen because he (the suspect) took them to so many wrong locations before opening up and saying that the crime was committed in Deeper Life Church, state headquarters,” he said.

Yusuf revealed that the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, had instructed the team to visit the church in order to authenticate where the cables were stolen.

“At the church, the Chief Security Officer and others were surprised and asked him how he managed to avoid being caught with the church’s formidable security network,” he added.

Meanwhile, the suspect and the exhibit were handed over to police at the Redeemed divisional headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
