Following the plenary session on Wednesday, lawmakers adjourned the House.
The holiday falls on the heels of reports of deteriorating security in the Federal Capital Territory.
It should be noted that the city has seen an increase in attacks since terrorists attacked Kuje Prison, freeing criminals and terrorists.
The government also announced the closure of federal government colleges in the FCT.
Following the announcement of the adjournment, Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu urged his colleagues to avoid the capital.
“I beg members, Abuja is no longer safe; please, if at all possible, return to your constituency.” “This place is so unsafe,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase, warned his colleague against making such a remark, warning that it could deter investors from coming to Nigeria.
“I believe the minority leader was making some jokes, but I do not believe it was a joke on the security of people’s lives and property, and by the grace of God, Abuja will be secure.”
“I don’t think we should scare investors who are coming into the country, and I don’t think we should scare people who could come in and add value to us,” he said.
