We have required number to impeach Buhari – Sen Fadahunsi

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly’s upper legislative chamber, has stated that the 9th Senate has the necessary votes to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari, Charmingpro reports

Members of the opposition parties walked out of Wednesday’s plenary session after the ruling All Progressives Congress resisted the move to serve an impeachment notice on President Buhari (APC).

The impeachment motion was based on the ongoing attacks on Nigerians by dreaded insurgents, as well as the latest threats to take over Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Senator Fadahunsi told reporters in his office shortly after the plenary that some APC lawmakers supported the impeachment move and that the remaining dissenters would join the majority once the Senate resumed its long vacation.

“Recall that I proposed two years ago that this President could offer nothing and should resign.” But the APC, which was floating in the Atlantic Ocean at the time, didn’t understand what I was saying. They are gradually seeing reasons now that the dangerous Atlantic Ocean is sweeping them and they have overtaken even Abuja.

“We decided in a closed-door session that an impeachment notice should be issued against him, but it was not possible because someone is still trying to protect his job.”

“During today’s executive meeting, we all agreed that the man should be served with an impeachment notice.” Except for a few, almost all APC Senators agreed that the man should be served.

“By the time we return, that is, if all of us return; that is, if some of us are not affected by the insecurity; we would all come together, regardless of our political affiliations, and demand that he leave,” he said.

Senator Fadahunsi, Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs, Trade, and Investment, also chastised Nigeria’s security chiefs for failing to do enough.

“The soldiers are busy making money,” he explained. The Generals are hard at work buying houses. Some of them have no idea what to do with the money, while others are constructing universities and hotels.

“Every time we invite them, they always complain about a lack of funds, and we always approve money for them.” As a result, they now have a lot of money.

“Have you heard that any of the people who are causing these problems have been arrested?” The few arrested were also blown out of Kuje prisons and are now wreaking havoc. These people are extremely knowledgeable.”

Senator Fadahunsi went on to say, “If the man in power is not ejected from Aso Villa, the way things are going, this country will slide into militocracy, and the democracy we all fought for will erode us.”

“The Commander of his Brigade Command has been killed,” he said. About 30 soldiers under him are missing. If he leaves and someone comes in, the person will understand the language”, implying that Buhari’s departure will clean up the system.

“At one point, El-Rufai, one of those who brought them, came out openly and admitted that the only way to eliminate them is to attack their hideouts and kill everyone, including those who are mediating.” But who will issue the command?

“Anyone who is unable to give order for this clampdown should leave and allow another person to come in,” Fadahunsi added.

He was confident that “by the time the Senate resumes, we will have sanitized the system and spoken with one voice.”
