Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one’s own death. Many people engage in suicide just to end the current pain and suffering in their lives, while most who committed suicide was due to mental disorder.
Suicide is never a good opinion for any living creature, because we don’t know what tomorrow has for us. So i will advise everyone should always be patient and hold onto God, He can do all things.
Over the years, we have recorded many cases of successful suicide committed by individuals, most especially in Nigeria. Also some Nigerian popular Celebrities has in different occasions, confessed to also have once wanted taking away their own lives due to one problem or the other.
Suicide is triggered by different things, different hard challenges of live. Many of us may not think or believe that some popular figure (celebrities), whom we all believe to be financially okay, having everything they needed and living comfortable lives, will actually encounter or pass through some personal issues which will lead to them wanting to take away their lives.
So without wasting much time, below are some popular Nigerian Celebrities who have attempted suicide at some critical point in their lives. Read their reasons and drop your thoughts if you think their reasons are worth committing suicide.
1. ACTRESS TONTO DIKEH
Popular Nigerian Movie Star, Tonto Dikeh is a well known Nollywood actress who has impacted positively into lives with her splendid display on screen. This light skinned beautiful star was reported to have suffered depression after a failed marriage with Churchill and has also been annulled after a series of accusations and backlash from both parties, made a reveal that she suffered from so much depression in the year 2013 and attempted to take her own life out of depression.
But because the movie star and mother of one, Tonto Dikeh is a strong woman who also loves her personality, she let go of every depression and never allowed it eat her up. Also a means of helping herself regine health and mental stability, she enrolled in a depression class, which really help her.

2. TEE BILLZ
Handsome looking Tunji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Tee Brillz once wanted taking away his life. The news of his attempt for suicide went viral on Social media as it was reported that the founder of 323 entertainment industry, Tee Billz was going through major family crisis after he allegedly accused his lovely wife of infidelity and neglect. Tee Billz did not only accuse his darling wife but also accused his mother-in-law of bewitching him.
Due to too much depression of family crisis, Tee took to his Instagram page, making know to the public his concluded intention of attempting suicide at the Ikoyi-Lekki bridge located in Lagos State Nigeria. But as God may have it, his intention was unsuccessful as few of his good friends came to his rescue.
3. TOKE MAKINWA
Popular Nigerian Media personality, Toke Makinwa was recorded to have sadly lost her beloved parents in a fire accident years ago. Toke Makinwa also was a victim of suicide attempt after her successful and happy marriage with a popular known fitness expert, identified as Maje Ayida hit the rocks (Crashed).
According to the light skinned beautiful personality, who once opened up on how she suffered from so much depression and also lost all hope of living. Then a day came up as she was comfortably sitting in her bedroom when she had a very strong deep thought, which was triggering her to drink a bottle of Dettol and die, so she can avoid the shame and ridicule.

4. JULIUS AGWU
Popular Nigerian comedian identified as Julius Agwu also made the list of people who attempted suicide. Comedian Julius was recorded to have suffered from brain tumor, he also disclosed to his fans during an interview with Inspaya, that the experience he had after discovering the disease in him was not wonderful at all.
After Julius came to discover he had the deadly disease of brain tumor, all he wanted to do was to just take away his life while he searched for all his property documents to give to his beloved wife as he made preparations for his death.

5. UBI FRANKLIN
Handsome looking Ubi Franklin, once shared a post on his verified Instagram page as he sadly revealed to his beloved fans that he almost took away his life year back between July 2016 and March 2017. He said he wanted doing so during his struggle with bouts of depression, which was so strong and nearly pushed him to commit suicide.
He made in his statement that the depression will at a point stop, after he might have thought he is over with it, boom it comes back again. He also paid for mortgage but to no avail.
Franklin stated that he grew scared and kept asking his self who will take care of his beloved son. He also explained how he got home and was acting in a funny manner, wanted everywhere to be dark and calm, ordered his security guard to off the generator as he entered into his dark room and remain calm. But thankful to God he is okay now.
6. EVA ALORDIAH
Popular Nigerian rapper identified as Eva Alordiah, on 13th August, which marked her 31st birthday, made a post on her verified Instagram page to reveal how she suffered depression and almost committed suicide. The Nigerian rapper made it clear to her fans how she escaped killing herself as she said it took her a long walk to get to where she is now.
From almost taking her own life to living her life with a single mission to help others live theirs better. She also encouraged her fans that they can live through any difficult situations they are facing. She wrote:
7. JOHN OKAFOR
Popular Nigerian comic actor and father of kids, once said that he would have taken his own dear life years back in 1997 due to the serious hardship he faced in then. Mr Ibu made it clear that at that difficult point in his life, every thing around him were so hard that in a day, he could barely afford to feed himself and sometimes he survives only on water. To also make matters worse, the Nollywood Comic and talented actor said he had no roof over his head and most of his friends were not even bothered, so suicide seemed like the easiest option to him then as he prepared to jump into a well and die.
Mr Ibu went further to narrate the story of his life, how he encountered hardship to the fullest, how his close friend whom he squatted with then, asked him out of the house because he was traveling and don’t want anyone to remain in his house. Ibu pleading but all his pleads went to deaf ears.
He also said he was older than that his friend, but he did almost all the home duties just so he could be allowed to stay in that home. But that faithful day his friend asked him out of the house, he nearly jumped into a well. But on process, the picture of his 80years old mum flashed his mind, then he immediately closed the well and went inside.
Inside the house, a neighbour by name Francis, was playing a motivational song by Michael Bolton, which was titled ‘When I am back on my Feet Again’ The song gave Comic Actor Mr Ibu hope and He decided to stay alive.
Beautiful Modupe-Oreoluwa Ola, aka Mo’Cheddah is a Nigerian rapper. She once opened up to her fans in an interview with DANG Network in 2018, about her terrible and secret battles with depression and the suicidal thoughts she had then which almost came to a success.
The 30-year-old Nigerian talented and creative singer said she never knew what hate was all about till she came into the Nigeria music industry. Mo’Cheddah stated that she was really hated by her much older colleagues in the music industry, especially after she won the Channel O music award.
The beautiful Nigerian singer went further to reveal how she almost took her life, how she also thought of drowning herself in the 3rd Mainland Bridge. She added that at times she wanted it to be quick, so she will also pray to God that He should just kill Her. But had to stop because she knew her death would terribly affect her husband who was then her boyfriend.
