Toluwanisings’ Wife Agrees to Singer’s Burial at His Ibadan Home as Family Dispute Is Resolved

Damilola Olayemi, the widow of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, has reportedly agreed to her husband’s burial at his family home in Ibadan, Oyo State, following a disagreement over his final resting place.

The controversy emerged after members of the late singer’s family allegedly claimed that Damilola had opposed the plan to bury him at their home. The disagreement subsequently attracted public attention, with some social media users criticising the widow.

However, Lanre Alewilese, a close associate and colleague of the deceased, has now disclosed that the misunderstanding between Damilola and the singer’s father has been resolved.

Appealing to Nigerians to stop attacking the widow, Alewilese described her as an accommodating person and urged the public to show compassion as she navigates the painful experience of losing her husband.

“Please, for God’s sake, let peace reign. Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through. I’m very close to the deceased; his wife is accommodating. All his band members can attest to this,” he said.

He further explained that both parties had reached an agreement to bury the singer at his house in Ibadan.

“The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. What happened was just a misunderstanding. The duo have agreed to bury Toluwanisings at his house,” Alewilese stated.

He also appealed to the singer’s fans and the general public to allow the widow to grieve in peace now that the burial disagreement has reportedly been settled.

The development comes amid growing conversations about family disagreements over burial arrangements, particularly when a deceased person’s spouse and extended family have differing expectations.

Losing a spouse is painful enough without having to deal with public criticism. Do you agree that family disagreements over burial arrangements should be settled privately, with compassion and respect for the deceased?
