Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, has revealed why his relationship with All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu soured in 2007, Charmingpro reports

Atiku revealed that Tinubu asked him to run on a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2007, but he declined.

Tinubu wanted to be the former Vice President’s running mate when he was the presidential candidate of the now-defunct opposition Action Congress, AC.

Atiku eventually lost the election to late Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Umar Yar’Adua.

Atiku, on the other hand, claimed Tinubu rejected his choice of Ben Obi as his running mate.

In an interview  on Friday, Atiku stated that he became politically estranged from Tinubu after he announced Obi as his running mate.

“He insisted on running with me, and I didn’t think it was right to have a Muslim-Muslim ticket,” he explained.

“That was the turning point in my relationship with him.”

Atiku, Tinubu, and other political heavyweights founded the Action Congress.
