‘Hired bishops’: Tinubu, Shettima under fire over alleged blasphemy

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) on Thursday condemned the alleged recruitment of fake “bishops” to attend the unveiling of former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima as the running mate of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu as blasphemous and treacherous  Charmingpro reports

According to HURIWA, the action demonstrates the APC’s complete disregard for the Christian faith.

HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, said in a statement that if Christian-Christian candidates had hired fake Imams to attend their political event, Nigeria would have been on fire.

Recall that at Shettima’s unveiling ceremony at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, an unpleasant spectacle of amusingly dressed allegedly hired ‘bishops’ was witnessed.

Footage of alleged fake bishops dressed in cassocks who attended the event flooded social media amid controversy surrounding the ruling party’s same faith ticket.

According to one of the ‘bishops,’ Joseph Odaudu, the APC hired them from a motor park behind Eagle Square, promised them N100,000 each, but only paid them N40,000.

HURIWA’s Onwubiko responded, saying, “The APC and its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as well as his running mate, Kashim Shettima, insulted the millions of Christians in Nigeria yet again by staging an insolent spectacle of hired bishops at Shettima’s unveiling.”
