The National Examinations Council (NECO) has refused to reschedule any of its current Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for school-based candidates, which is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, Charmingpro reports.

It stated that instead, it has granted a full examination week from Friday, July 8 to Wednesday, July 13, 2022, to allow the Muslim faithful enough time to celebrate the festival.

This, according to NECO’s Head of Information and Public Relations Division, Mr. Azeez Sani, in a statement issued in Minna, contradicts reports in some quarters that the council has scheduled exams for July 9, 2022, which is Sallah Day (Eid-Adha).

“The Council wishes to state that no examination has been scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2022,” the statement continued. It has granted a full examination week from Friday, July 8th to Wednesday, July 13th, 2022 in the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for School-based candidates to allow Muslim faithful enough time to celebrate the festival.

“Aware of the significance of religious festivals, the Council has always made adequate provision for them in determining examination dates.”

The 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for school-based candidates began on June 27th and will conclude on August 12th, 2022.
