Gunmen kill lecturer in Adamawa

Yohanna Bzegu, a lecturer at Adamawa State Polytechnic in Yola, was shot dead in the early hours of Thursday by unidentified gunmen, Charmingpro reports

Bzegu, a lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Adamawa State Polytechnic in Yola, was assassinated in his home at Bajabure, behind Anglican Junior Seminary, a satellite town on the outskirts of Yola, the state capital.

According to a family member, the assailants shot the deceased in the chest and then stood by as he died.

According to the reports, his wife stood helpless as the intruders broke into the house.

According to the source, the attackers broke into the late lecturer’s house around 3 a.m., and this is their fifth attempt on his residence.

“They fired shots through the window; later, they broke the door and shot him in the chest until they confirmed he was dead,” he explained.

While confirming the incident, Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, stated that Sikiru Akande, the Commissioner of Police, directed for an immediate investigation in order to apprehend the perpetrators.

He gave the order while visiting the deceased’s home.

Not long ago, suspected gunmen attacked Daniel Umaru’s home, a pastor with Ekklesiyya Yan’uwa, killing the cleric’s two teenage sons.

While Umaru survived, the attackers took his 13-year-old daughter with them.

The teenage daughter, on the other hand, had been released after the bandits were paid an undisclosed sum as a ransom.
