As David Adeleke aka Davido celebrates his 29th birthday today, we will go through five important accomplishments he has made.

1- First African performer at the Music of Black Origin Awards (MOBO)

Davido became the first African act to perform live at the MOBO Awards on November 30, 2017, when he won Best African Act.

2. Broke records with his 2017 song, “Fall.”

Davido’s 2017 single “Fall” is his most successful in terms of streaming, charts, certifications, and influence to date. The song has received backing from a number of international personalities.

The song has been certified gold in the United States and Canada, and as of 2021, it is the best-selling Afrobeat single. It was also Nigeria’s longest-charting hit on overseas charts like Billboard. It’s also the first Afrobeat song to exceed 200 million views on YouTube.

3. Songs featured on International Movies’ soundtracks

His songs have been utilized in films such as “Queen of Katwe” (2016) and “Coming to America II” (2020), in which he also appeared and performed “Assurance.”

4. He has an impressive list of International Collaborations and Certifications

Over the course of his career, Davido has collaborated with a number of international musicians, including Meek Mill, Tinashe, Young Thug, Swae Lee, Chris Brown, Popcaan, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Nas, Summer Walker, Gunna, A Boogie, Lil Baby, and Khalid.

Davido’s tracks “If” and “Fall” have earned him certifications in the United States, Canada, and South Africa.

5. In less than three days, he was able to raise 201 million Naira.

Davido recently resorted to Twitter to ask his followers to give one million Naira apiece in honor of his 29th birthday. He was able to earn 201 million Naira, and he just announced that the money will be distributed to Nigerian orphanage facilities.
