The Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana (AIFPU), held its 44th Matriculation Ceremony on March 28, 2025, officially welcoming 2,685 students into the 2024/2025 academic session. The event, which took place at the institution’s event center, was compered by Dr. Onyeneho, who ensured a smooth and engaging ceremony.
The newly admitted students include:
- 1,249 National Diploma (ND) students
- 1,409 Higher National Diploma (HND) students
- 27 Part-Time students
The ceremony marked the formal induction of the students into the Polytechnic community, reinforcing their commitment to academic excellence and discipline.
Speaking at the event, the Rector, Dr. Felix U. Attah, highlighted significant achievements of the Polytechnic since the last matriculation. Some of these include:
- Completion of Staff Appraisal: The institution successfully concluded its staff appraisal process, clearing a backlog of two years.
- Seamless Academic Calendar: The Polytechnic has maintained an uninterrupted academic schedule, ensuring smooth academic activities.
- Bus Palliative Scheme for Staff: A transport scheme offering highly subsidized fares has been introduced to ease commuting for staff members.
- TETFund Interventions:
- Upgrades to road networks within the campus.
- Construction of an ultra-modern Entrepreneurship Education (EED) building.
- National Recognition: The Polytechnic achieved 3rd place in the 2025 National Exhibition on Creativity and Innovation in Polytechnics and Monotechnics, demonstrating its commitment to research and technological advancement.
- Sustainable Energy Solutions: Installation of solar-powered electricity in multiple offices to enhance energy efficiency.
- Infrastructure Development: Renovation and commissioning of the Old Lecture Theatre, providing a conducive learning environment for students.
The Registrar, Mr. Chinedu Nwaka, announced that the First Semester Examination for the 2024/2025 session will commence on April 22, 2025. He urged students to remain diligent and focused on their academic pursuits.
