Shettima unveiling: We were promised N100,000, paid N40,000 – ‘Bishop’ claims

The All Progressives Congress, APC, allegedly hired Christian clergymen and women to take part in the unveiling of the party’s vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima  Charmingpro reports.

Recall that APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu unveiled the former Borno State governor as his running mate on Wednesday in Abuja.

Footage of bishops in cassocks attending the event has flooded social media amid controversy over the same faith ticket.

According to the reports, the ruling party is currently facing backlash from Nigerians for allegedly hiring phony bishops in order to claim Christian community support in the presidential race.

Joseph Odaudu, one of the ‘bishops’ who spoke with Peoples Gazette, claimed that they were hired from a motor park.

The APC members, he claims, promised to pay them N100,000 each.

He, on the other hand, complained that he only received N40,000 instead of the promised N100,000

“They came to meet us at the parking lot behind Eagle Square and promised me N100,000.” They bought us food and took us to another location where they dressed us like Christian leaders and reverend fathers,” Mr Odaudu told The Gazette.

“However, when we finished, they only gave me N40,000, and another person said they only got N30,000.” I’m not sure why they changed our agreement when they stated they had N100,000 for us.

“I am a Christian who supports Tinubu, but I despise it when people lie and fail to keep their promises,” he added.

However, the Tinubu Campaign Organisation, TCO, has refuted reports of fake bishops, claiming that they are clerics without celebrity.

TCO’s Director of Media and Communication, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, stated in a statement that the bishops were not hired.
