Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike dismissed as false the trending story that he dragged PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal to court, Charmingpro reports
Wike, on the other hand, claimed that it was Atiku’s political minders who planned and planted the alleged story of a legal action in the media in order to discredit him.
The governor made this rebuttal during the inauguration of the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt, the state capital, by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
“People have called me all morning and said all kinds of things that I went to court against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar,” he says. I want to state unequivocally that if I have a reason to go to court, I will go to court; however, I did not go to court.
“They also claimed that I removed all PDP flags from the Rivers State Government House yesterday.”
“But I just have to say these things for Nigerians to know that I have remained silent, and I am busy delivering dividends of democracy for my party to win the Rivers State election.”
“However, I want to inform the candidate that it is the candidate’s group that is doing all of this.” Let the world know, they are the ones plotting all of this, thinking they can ruin my name, but you cannot.”
Wike went on to say that if he had wanted to take legal action against the outcome of the PDP presidential primary, he would have done so within two weeks of the primary, when such pre-election matters could be heard.
“I did not appear in court.” I have no reason to appear in court. But those of you who are plotting and claiming that I went to court instead, I say shame on you for coming out now and claiming Wike went to court.
