Nothing to bequeath to my children after office as president – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has informed his immediate family, particularly his children, that he will not leave anything to them, Charmingpro reports

Buhari, who is set to leave office as President in May 2023, has stated that the only legacy he wishes to leave them is proper education.

The President, speaking on the importance of effective education, urged parents to instill in their children right values such as deep fear of God, respect for constituted authorities, and living a purposeful life through continuous education.

His remarks come as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other sister unions continue to strike.

While the President recently told ASUU that their prolonged strike was over, the Union’s leadership responded by “describing the charge from the presidency as mere ranting without understanding the grasp of the issues that necessitated the strike.”

For more than five months, unions and the government have been at odds over agreements related to a unified payment platform and other emoluments-related issues.

But, in his admonition, Buhari charged the youth to seek education, not for government jobs, which are scarce, but to arm themselves with skills and abilities to combat poverty and meet the needs of the twenty-first century.

He said this on Wednesday, when he went to pay Sallah homage at the Emir of Daura’s Palace.

According to him, more time should be devoted to training future leaders in moral values, as the rapidly changing world, fueled by new technology, will be more competitive and demanding.
