Niger State’s chief judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik, has sentenced a 31-year-old man, Hamza Mohammed, to death by hanging after he found him guilty on a two-count charge of joint act and culpable homicide.
Delivering judgement, she averred that the offence of joint act and culpable homicide punishable under Section 221 and Section 79 of the Penal Code was established against the convict, Hamza Mohammed and he is hereby sentenced and convicted accordingly.
The presiding judge held that the prosecutor was able to prove the two-count charge against him beyond every reasonable doubt.
“The case of culpable homicide punishable by death is mandatory. You, Hamza Mohammed, is hereby convicted and sentenced to death by hanging until you are dead. May the Lord have mercy on your soul,” Justice Abdulmalik maintained.
Charmingpro recalls that Hamza Mohammed was involved in a rival clash between the youths of Kpakungu area and those of Barikin Saleh, all of Minna, which resulted in the death of one Isah Mohammed, who was stabbed to death by one Baba Usman.
