Pop icon Lady Gaga is facing a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by Lost International, a California-based surf company. The company alleges that the logo used for Gaga’s recent album, Mayhem, closely resembles their trademarked “Mayhem” logo, which they have utilized since 1986 on products such as surfboards, apparel, and accessories.
According to the lawsuit, Lost International asserts that Gaga’s Mayhem merchandise features designs that are “substantially similar if not nearly identical” to their own, potentially causing consumer confusion and diluting their brand’s value. The company claims to have sent a cease-and-desist letter to Gaga’s team, which was allegedly ignored, leading to the current legal action.
In response, Gaga’s attorney, Orin Snyder, has dismissed the lawsuit as “an opportunistic and meritless abuse of the legal system,” emphasizing the album‘s success and suggesting that the claim seeks to capitalize on it.
This legal dispute coincides with Gaga’s announcement of her upcoming tour, the Mayhem Ball, set to commence in July. The tour will feature performances across major cities in Europe and North America, including Las Vegas, New York, London, and Paris.
