Charmingpro reports that The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has identified alleged kidnappers in the South East.
This was stated in a statement signed by Emma Powerful, IPOB’s spokesman.
The secessionist group distanced itself from the criminals, claiming that it was never a part of or responsible for the region’s ongoing insecurity and criminality.
Powerful also stated that the group is working to identify those responsible for the ongoing criminal activities in Anambra, Enugu, and Imo states.
“In Abia State, in particular, a certain Nkechi Kalu and her gang of approximately eight kidnap members operating between Abia State and Igweocha, Rivers State are not IPOB members, and their activities should not be associated with ‘IPOB family’ membership.”
“In Enugu State, a certain group of criminal elements turned themselves into enemies of the people; their gang leaders’ names are Chocho and Mazi Ejiofor; [they] are not IPOB members, and anyone associating with them is a confirmed criminal,” the statement read in part.
He went on to say that “the above-mentioned former IPOB members were expelled as a result of indiscipline and insubordination, which IPOB leadership does not tolerate.”
