The plane is thought to have taken off from Capannori Lucca Tassignano airport in Lucca on Thursday morning, June 9, for an hour-long flight to Treviso, but it never arrived.

The plane took off at 9.30 a.m. local time and was scheduled to land at 10.30 a.m., but it vanished from radars shortly after.

Volunteers are looking for the missing plane in what officials describe as vast and mostly uninhabited terrain.

According to local media, the helicopter was hired by Roto Court, a household chemical manufacturer, to transport clients to a new plant.

Giuliano Gelain, a company director, told the Italian news agency ANSA that he was “confident” the chopper did not crash because it did not send out an emergency signal.

According to La Stampa, a search of the region surrounding Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna has resumed this morning after being called off last night.
