According to a court document, American singer R.Kelly is engaged to his long-term girlfriend and alleged victim, Joycelyn Savage, Charmingpro reports
The R&B singer was sentenced to 30 years in prison on sex trafficking charges and still faces additional charges.
Joycelyn Savage identifies herself as Robert Kelly’s fiancée in a letter written to the judge ahead of R. Kelly’s sentencing, which AllHipHop obtained.
Joycelyn insists in her plea for mercy that the government has wrongly portrayed her as a victim and that R. Kelly is the best thing that has ever happened to her.
Joycelyn stated: “My friendship with Robert is fantastic. He is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. We have a special bond and are deeply in love. I still support Robert because I love him and will always be there for him.”
She went on: “Robert is not the monster the government portrays him to be. The Robert I know is gentle, sweet, and kind. At the end of the day, he has always taken care of me and any other women he has been with.”
Joycelyn’s family issued a statement on June 29, the day R.Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison, but they did not mention that she is engaged to the singer.

According to CBS 46, attorney Gerald A. Griggs issued a statement saying, “Joycelyn Savage’s parents are overjoyed with today’s verdict by Judge Donnelly.” They hope that it will continue to send a strong message that sexual predators will be punished.”
“It is their ongoing hope to reunite and reconnect with their daughter,” he added. They are hoping Joycelyn will return home soon. They are relieved that the Court has heard the survivors’ voices.”
