President Muhammadu Buhari has joined the entertainment and media industries in commemorating the happy occasion of acclaimed composer, singer, and journalist Onyeka Onwenu’s 70th birthday.

Onyeka, popularly known as the Elegant Stallion and famed for her One Love song, is a multitalented personality.

Buhari commended the multi-award-winning performer and actress on living a life that continues to inspire both the young and the elderly.

According to the President, Onyeka’s ingenuity, sincerity of purpose, and perseverance continue to bring honor to the country.

The President highlighted that Onyeka began his career as an NTA presenter and reporter who captured the world’s attention in the 1980s by shining a light on corruption.

She also published songs with a strong social and moral message.

She later became the Chief Executive Officer of National Centre for Women Development and Chairperson of Imo State Council for Arts and Culture.

Buhari saluted her for the fresh ideas and institutional reforms she brought into public service, passionately creating and pursuing a vision for a better life for many.

“As the journalist and activist turns 70, the President believes her many recognitions and awards, at home and abroad, were well deserved”, said Femi Adesina, who issued a statement on behalf of Buhari.

Buhari also commended Onyeka for directing her energy into global movies with historic contexts, and sharing the gospel of Christ.

President Buhari prayed that the Almighty God will continue to bless Onyeka, singer of “One Love’’, who is also known as the “Elegant Stallion’’, with long life and good health.
