Gunmen reportedly stormed the First Baptist Church Nekede in Imo State and kidnapped Mrs. Bola Abioye, the wife of the Imo State Zoo General Manager, Charmingpro reports.
According to the reports, the gunmen who operated on a Sienna Ash-colored-tinted glass were dressed in police vests.
Our correspondent learned that the abductors stormed the church shortly after the Sunday service, around 1:30pm, and began shooting sporadically.
According to a worshiper who identified herself as Dr Blessing, the church had just finished thanksgiving and members were heading to the car park to drive out to the venue of merriment when the gunmen struck.
“The church had just dismissed, so everyone was heading to the car park with the intention of going to the member’s home, only for an Ash-colored Sienna vehicle to drive in shooting sporadically,” he explained.
“The abductors, who were wearing police vests, were shooting right there in the parking lot,” he said. They initially dragged a woman, but after a few seconds, one of them exclaimed, “It’s not this one!”
“Before they went to drag Mrs. Abioye, they shot directly at people to scare them away.” Despite her best efforts, there was too much noise. And they were gone in minutes, still shooting.”
When contacted, Michael Abattam, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), stated that the command has yet to be informed about the heinous incident and promised to provide us with more information.
