The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has decided to prolong its eight-week warning strike.

The union made the decision during a meeting of its National Executive Council, or NEC, on Sunday night in Abuja.

According to a union member who spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity, the two-month period is intended to allow the Federal Government time to respond to their requests.

ASUU began a one-month warning strike on February 14 in response to the Federal Government’s failure to implement the conditions the two parties had agreed to in the past.
