According to Aya, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Egbuka, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment following the attacks at Okehi Area Command in the early hours of Friday.
He also stated that the Commissioner of Police has directed the deployment of additional operational assets, including members of the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Quick Response Unit, and State Intelligence Bureau, in collaboration with other security agencies, in order to restore normalcy in the area.
“A Police Inspector was killed in the exchange of fire with the hoodlums, before the Area Commander and a military detachment in the area reinforced to the scene of the incident, and the attackers fled,” he added.
Aya assured that the command is dedicated to collaborating with other security agencies as well as patriotic stakeholders to make the state a safe and secure environment for all.
He added that the Commissioner of Police has also directed his Deputy in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to begin an investigation into the unfortunate incident.
