Tiwa Savage, Nigeria’s top female pop artist, appears undeterred by the current sextape scandal surrounding her name, as a video of her doing a choreographed dance routine with American musician Brandy emerged online.
Yesterday, October 12, the number one African bad girl unveiled the video for “Somebody’s Son,” a smash song off her Water & Garri album with Brandy. Meji Alabi directed the video, which was produced by JM films.
Somebody’s Son is a song about a woman’s yearning to be loved and shown attention after suffering a heartache. When Brandy was heard singing in Yoruba, it became more attractive to listeners.
During a chat with Zane lowe on apple music, Tiwa Savage expressed how elated she felt to have had Brandy on the song
“Brandy is literally the reason why I started singing, literally. As a kid, just listening to I Want To Be Down, every interview I’ve ever had, she’s my favorite, my all time, my mentor, everything. And I’ve been trying to work with her for years. It was a dream of mine.
“And when it happened this time, it’s not even just music, we connected like sisters. She’s someone that I speak to literally every other day. It’s beyond my expectation.” Tiwa disclosed.
