Pastor Iren has called on Christians to show maturity, respect, and good character when addressing issues they disagree with, especially on sensitive matters.
During a recent sermon, he warned that some believers hide behind “standing for the Word of God” to justify rude and disrespectful behaviour. He stressed that defending truth should never translate into insults or disregard for age and dignity.
Referencing a man who recently turned 50 and faced intense online criticism over a personal decision, Pastor Iren expressed concern about how many young people, particularly Gen Z, responded with abusive language.
“We have a problem,” he said, noting that many disagreements are subjective and should not lead to hateful reactions. He questioned why Christians would address elders with statements like “Oga, commot for here,” describing such conduct as poor character rather than boldness for truth.
The preacher also shared observations from his counselling sessions, revealing that some believers engage in actions that even non-Christians would consider unacceptable. He cited cases where couples exchanged private photos during relationships and later threatened to expose each other after breakups.
According to him, such behaviour violates basic human decency, not just Christian principles. He added that even atheists often understand certain moral boundaries, such as not abusing women, yet some Christians fail to uphold these standards.
Pastor Iren concluded by urging believers to reflect on their conduct and treat one another with love, respect, and maturity, emphasizing that genuine faith should produce better character—not insults or hostility.
