Lagos Police Suspend Sexual Assault Probe Against Pastor Chris Okafor

The Lagos State Police Command has reportedly suspended its investigation into multiple sexual assault allegations involving Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry.

The investigation, which was initially ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Sylvester Alabi, for further handling.

Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, explained that the probe was suspended because the complainants failed to honour police invitations. She added that the Lagos Command could not run a parallel investigation while the matter is under the supervision of Zone 2, acting on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

As a result, Pastor Okafor was released on self-recognition to report and cooperate fully with the Zone 2 investigation.

The controversy surrounding the cleric began in December 2025 after Nollywood actress Doris Ogala accused him of reneging on a marriage promise. The allegation triggered wider claims on social media, leading to public apologies from Pastor Okafor. At the height of the controversy, he temporarily stepped aside from his ministerial duties.

Police authorities say further action on the case will depend on the outcome of the Zone 2 investigation and the willingness of complainants to formally present their claims.
