Lizzy anjorin and anthony Joshua

Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has stirred controversy online after publicly questioning the decision of British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua’s mother to allow him return to his hometown in Nigeria during the festive season.

In a video currently making the rounds on social media, Anjorin blamed Joshua’s mother for what she described as poor judgment, arguing that he should have been lodged in what she considered safer, more exclusive areas such as Lekki, Ikoyi, or Banana Island.

“Anthony Joshua’s mother is to blame,” Anjorin said in the clip. “She didn’t put her son in a better place like Lekki or Ikoyi. She watched him go back to his village for the festivities. What reasonable mother would allow that? Why couldn’t she put him somewhere like Ikoyi or Banana Island?”

Her remarks followed Anthony Joshua’s recent visit to Nigeria, during which he was reportedly involved in a serious car accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The crash allegedly claimed the lives of two of his close associates, while the boxer himself sustained minor injuries.

Anjorin’s comments have since generated intense debate across social media platforms, with opinions sharply divided. While some users echoed her concerns about safety and the risks associated with high-profile visits during festive periods, others criticised her for dragging Joshua’s mother into the discussion, arguing that the boxer is an adult capable of making his own decisions.
