Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected terrorist logistics supplier and 21 accomplices in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to counter-terrorism analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspects were transporting a large consignment of smoked fish believed to be tied to insurgent financing. They were intercepted around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday by troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion under the 24 Task Force Brigade at Checkpoint 2 in Mafa.
The main suspect, 40-year-old Ibrahim Bukar, was caught alongside others while conveying 59 cartons and 28 sacks of smoked fish in two Isuzu trucks. A security source said preliminary interrogation indicated that the fish had been handed to them in Laje village by terrorists.
Bukar reportedly confessed to supplying various items to the insurgents in the past and was identified by hybrid forces who confirmed he had served as a logistics link while operating within the bush.
All 22 suspects and the seized items are now in custody for further investigation.
