Senator Prince Ned Nwoko has debunked circulating claims that he married Regina Daniels when she was 17 years old, describing them as “entirely untrue and misleading.”
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the lawmaker explained that during his first meeting with Regina, she told him she was 21 years old, and presented her INEC voter’s card, which showed her date of birth as October 10th, 1998.
“I asked if she had any document to support this, and she presented her INEC voter’s card, which clearly shows that she was born on October 10th, 1998. I informed her that I would keep this document in my possession, and I have done so since that day,” he wrote.
Nwoko further stated that their marriage took place six years ago, making Regina 27 years old today, and dismissed all claims suggesting otherwise as false and misleading.

He also referenced a BBC interview granted by Regina’s mother after their marriage, where she reportedly spoke about her daughter’s age.
“The facts are verifiable and indisputable. Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted by the public,” he stressed.

The senator urged the public to approach Regina’s recent claims “with caution and discernment,” alleging that she has been struggling with her mental health and had abandoned rehabilitation for drug addiction.
The post comes amid renewed controversy after a purported passport showing Regina’s date of birth as October 10th, 2001 surfaced online, sparking debate over her real age at the time of marriage.
