Nigerian comedienne, better known as Real Warri Pikin, has shared that undergoing gastric sleeve surgery not only made it easier for her to conceive but has had no negative impact on her pregnancy
In an interview with Punch, the talk show host explained that the weight-loss procedure has given her a smooth, complication-free pregnancy.
She credited the surgery with resolving several health issues tied to her former weight, pointing out that excess body fat often makes conception more difficult.
“Many people don’t really know what gastric sleeve surgery entails,” she said. “About 80 percent of my stomach was removed, which helped me reach a healthy weight and improved my overall health. The procedure has nothing to do with my womb or reproductive system. In fact, it addressed the problems caused by being overweight, so getting pregnant became easier.”
Speaking on criticism that she continues working while expecting, Real Warri Pikin dismissed the idea that pregnancy should mean pressing pause on her life.
“Where is it written that being pregnant stops you from doing certain things? My doctor says I’m perfectly fine and not a high-risk patient. If our mothers worked on farms right up until delivery, why should I be treated differently just because I’m hosting a show in the US? I still have my kids, my husband, my marriage, and my business to take care of. Pregnancy isn’t a reason to put everything on hold,” she stated.
