He insisted that the PDP had mistreated Wike, a former presidential candidate for the party.

Ortom, who appeared on Arise TV on Wednesday morning, also claimed that Wike was the one who brought him back to the PDP after he was treated unfairly in 2015.

“Why do you just call Wike when you should go to him?” Ortom asked.

“Wike was on the ground when people left the party.” When I was treated unfairly, Wike was the one who brought me back to the PDP.

“In 2015, he brought me back to PDP.” You’ve been cruel to Wike. The party and the national level should approach him and make an appeal to him. He finished second to Atiku.”

According to the reports, Wike has recently held closed-door meetings with some top politicians who visited his country shortly after the 2022 PDP presidential primaries and the contentious selection of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as running mate.

Last week, the governor hosted Peter Obi, the Labor Party’s presidential candidate; Governor David Umahi of the All Progressives Congress, APC; Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP; and Bauchi State Governor and former PDP presidential aspirant, Senator Bala Mohammed of the PDP, in his private residence in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The visits followed a strong rumour of Wike’s alleged plan to leave the PDP after failing to make the cut as a running mate to the party’s flag bearer for the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar.

Wike finished second in the May 28/29 presidential primary, which was won by Atiku, who received over a thousand votes to defeat other candidates.

Meanwhile, Wike has left Nigeria for a vacation in Turkey.

On Tuesday, he posted photos from his vacation to his official Twitter account, where he posed with his Abia State counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu; former Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Boma Iyaye; and Marcus Nlee.
