Funke Akindele, popularly known as Jenifa in Nollywood, has confirmed her nomination as the Peoples Democratic Party’s deputy gubernatorial candidate, Charmingpro reportsÂ
Akindele revealed in a video posted on Tuesday on her Instagram page that she would be putting her acting career on hold and entering politics to effect change and improve the lives of Lagosians.
She urged young people to rally behind her and governorship candidate Dr Olajide Adediran, also known as Jendor, in order to make Lagos a better place.
“I am a Lagosian born in Ikorodu, so when the PDP gubernatorial candidate asked me to be his deputy governor, I saw it as an opportunity to help liberate and improve the welfare of our people, especially the disadvantaged youth, women, and girl child.”
“My decision is not only to accept this enormous responsibility to see that our beloved Lagos lives up to its full potential, with the people as its immediate beneficiaries.”
“Over the years, many youths have been ignored and victimized for daring to dream, so I take this opportunity to call out all well-meaning citizens of the country, particularly the youths.” It is indeed time to capitalize on our numerical superiority, as well as to unite and support one another.
“I’m not unaware of the cost of this assignment on my vibrant career, which I must now put on hold; it’s a huge personal sacrifice, but my resolve is that no sacrifice is too great for the accomplishment of the urgent mission to save our people and dear state.”
“I take this call with reverence and a strong sense of responsibility.” Yes, we can create a Lagos for all of our residents.”
