Former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, says Gov. Nyesom Wike was the best council chairman he had as governor, Charmingpro reports
Dr. Odili made the claim on Monday in Port Harcourt at an event commemorating his 74th birthday.
Governor Wike chaired the Obio Akpor council from 1999 to 2003.
The former Governor also praised Gov. Wike for investing “in human capacity development, infrastructure, and the construction of the best law school campus in Port Harcourt.”
Gov. Wike described Odili as a true leader of men who groomed and supported many people to political prominence during his speech at the event.
He regretted, however, that Odili had previously been “abandoned” by the political class.
“There was a time when every political class abandoned Dr. Odili,” he says. This is a man who gave everything to us. Some people referred to him as Mr. Donatus. There was nothing he didn’t get. Everyone he tried to help with their families betrayed him in the end.
“We’ve used him as a school for us, and we thank him for making himself available for us to use to learn so that we won’t be surprised by whatever happens.”
The governor stated that it was Odili’s generosity that enabled the Ikwerre sons to become Rivers State governors.
