Wike and Tinubu

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, praised President Bola Tinubu for removing Godwin Emefiele from his position as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

President Tinubu suspended Emefiele last night and ordered him to give over right away to Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) Folashodun Shonubi of the Apex Bank.

Wike, who was one of Emefiele’s detractors for his policies, particularly the redesign of the Naira, reacted to the news by calling the President’s choice daring and appropriate.

According to a statement from his media team, the former governor of Rivers State also reprimanded President Tinubu for endorsing consistency in the retirement age and pension of judicial personnel nationwide.

He said the President’s action will introduce a new lease of life to the nation’s judiciary.

Wike noted that he and other G5 members are impressed that the President is showing “focused and exemplary leadership that will lead the county to prosperity.”
