There was mild drama at the Ikoyi Registry today, September 29, after the registrar refused to officiate a couple’s wedding because of the groom’s dreadlocks.
Charming Pro gathered that the wedding was momentarily stalled until the groom did something about his hair.
The gist was shared on social media by talent manager, Ubi Franklin, who revealed that they had to rush down the street to get a hat for the groom to cover his hair before the registrar eventually joined the couple.
In the video shared online, the groom is seen stuffing his thick dreads into the cap to hide it so that he can get married.
Ubi Franklin, who was there as the witness, sharing the video on his Instagram page, wrote:
“Naija na cruise My friend asked that I stand him for him as a witness at the ikoyi registry, when he got in to hall, this registrar said he won’t wed him because of his hair 🙆🏿♂️🙆🏿♂️🙆🏿♂️ We drove out and got him a hat 🎩 😂😂😂😂”.
