Music executive turned media personality, Ubi Franklin, has opened up about stealing a wrist watch at Davido’s wedding.
Denying the rumor, her described the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement shared on his X page, the talent manager explained that while in Miami, jeweler Benny approached him to sell a wristwatch. After confirming the item’s previous ownership, Franklin declined the offer to avoid any complications.
During the wedding service, Benny later sent a different watch through his brother, which Franklin said he purchased and paid for in full. Because of the busy nature of the event, he briefly had both watches in his possession and chose to wear the one he bought.
“While airborne on my way back to Nigeria to finalize preparations for my sister’s funeral, Benny contacted me about the other wristwatch. I want to state clearly: I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone. I purchased a wristwatch and paid in full,” Franklin wrote.
He added that Benny himself had earlier debunked the story, yet the rumours persisted. “This is my final word on this,” Franklin stressed, thanking friends and supporters for their calls and messages during what he described as a painful and sensitive time for his family.
Davido has also publicly stood by Franklin, affirming his aide’s integrity and insisting there was no wrongdoing.
