Charmingpro reports that Senator Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has submitted the name of Kabir Ibrahim Masari as part of the plan to beat the Friday June 17 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for political parties to submit the names of presidential candidates and their running mates.
It was gathered, however, that Masari’s name, who is from President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state, would be changed after the party stakeholders had agreed on a suitable vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.
A party source confirmed to DAILY POST that Tinubu has submitted his running mate’s name, but added that “consultation is still ongoing.”
It was also learned that Tinubu and the ruling party made the move to meet the statutory requirement and beat the deadline set by the electoral umpire.
Tinubu, on the other hand, will meet President Muhammadu Buhari today as talks about his running mate continue.
The ruling party’s consideration of a Muslim-Muslim ticket has been met with strong opposition.
Despite the fact that some names had been mentioned as potential running mates for the former Lagos State governor, it was learned that no compromise had yet been reached.
