Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said that the shooting at the Craneburg Construction yard in Owo on Wednesday was intended to damage some of their equipment rather than injure or kill anyone.m Charmingpro reports
Akeredolu, who visited the construction site with the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, and the heads of the state’s security agencies, urged residents not to panic.
Gunmen attacked the ancient town on Wednesday night, sending residents fleeing for safety.
“I want to allay our people’s fear,” the governor says. What happened here on Wednesday night was clearly not an attempt to kidnap anyone because they left with no one. And we have over a hundred people living on the premises.
“There were sporadic gunshots at the wall, but no one was ever killed inside.” It is better for everyone to be aware.
“They didn’t go inside there to murder anyone.” The only two people who had gunshot wounds were security guards they saw outside the building.
“It is obvious to us that their intention was to attack one or two pieces of equipment here, which they did.” Their explosives caused damage to another vehicle’s tyres and windscreen.”
He also assured the public of his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, emphasizing that the shooting on Wednesday night was nothing compared to the June 5 attack on the Saint Francis Catholic Church in town.
