In September, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will play former European champions Portugal in an international friendly, Charmingpro reports

The three-time African champions were originally scheduled to face the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in September, but the Confederation of African Football has moved the double-header to March 2023. (CAF).

The NFF wants to take advantage of the FIFA window to keep the Super Eagles busy after the qualifiers were postponed.

The friendly is being organized by Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Portuguese Football Federation (PFF) are expected to issue an official statement on the date and location of the friendly.

It will be the first time Nigeria and Portugal meet at the highest level.

Both countries have played three U-20 games, with Portugal winning all three.
