South African police have arrested a female suspect in connection with the killing of a Nigerian e-hailing driver, Isaac Satlat, in Pretoria West, a case that has drawn strong reactions from Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.
The 22-year-old driver was reportedly attacked on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, while on duty after picking up passengers through the Bolt app. Authorities say Satlat was allegedly targeted by a male and female pair who hijacked his vehicle. His body and the stolen car were later discovered in Atteridgeville the same day.
A video of the violent attack circulating on social media has been condemned by police as disturbing, with officials urging the public to refrain from sharing it.
The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, has assigned a senior detective to lead a full investigation into the incident and ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
Investigators are currently reviewing dashcam footage and gathering witness statements to piece together the events leading to the murder. Police confirmed that the arrested female suspect is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 16, 2026, on charges including hijacking and murder.
