Sophia Momodu has released a comprehensive statement addressing viral claims that she allegedly prevented her daughter, Imade, from celebrating with her father, singer Davido, and his family.
In the statement, shared via her social media page, she said social media has increasingly become a breeding ground for “false narratives,” noting that recent posts targeted at her daughter attempted to paint an untrue picture of the child’s well-being. According to her, her immediate reaction as a mother was emotional, but she felt compelled to defend her child.
Momodu emphasized that her daughter is “happy, healthy, and well-rounded,” adding that anyone who has met the child in person can attest to this. She stated that she has been the child’s primary caregiver for the past five years, covering all expenses except school fees, which have been handled by the child’s paternal grandparent for three years.
She also revealed that she has not received child support from the child’s father but insisted that her daughter “knows no lack.” She disclosed that she recently waived outstanding child-support claims and relinquished future claims entirely—leaving her solely responsible for all financial needs.
While stressing the importance of family, she explained that she has never denied the child’s father access, pointing out that she only prioritizes structured schedules in the interest of her daughter’s safety. She expressed gratitude that the child maintains a loving relationship with both parents.
Momodu ended her statement with an appeal for her daughter to be left out of “false narratives,” urging the public to redirect their energy toward healthier and more productive matters.
