Soldiers, police clash in Osun

On Saturday evening, there was fear in Ajegunle, Osogbo, after some soldiers assaulted a police officer, Charmingpro reports

The soldiers and police officer, it was learned, were not dressed in uniform.

According to an eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent, soldiers and police officers in separate vehicles refused to let each other pass through the Ajekunle spare parts market.

“Neither of them wanted to reverse in order for the other to pass. While one of the three soldiers in the car directed the police officer to reverse, the officer identified himself. His refusal sparked the brawl.

“The officer called the Dugbe Police Station, while three more personnel joined the soldiers.”

“The situation escalated, and there was a brief exchange of gunshots.” “We closed our businesses and fled the scene to avoid being shot,” an eyewitness who requested anonymity said.

Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, confirmed the clash but stated that it had been resolved.
