Senator Annie Okonkwo

Annie Okonkwo, a former senator who represented Anambra Central in the National Assembly, has passed away.

After a protracted struggle with a deadly illness, he passed away in the US, according to Vanguard. Age-wise, he was 63.

Okonkwo, a prominent businessman in the 1980s and 1990s, was born in Ojoto, in the Anambra State municipality of Idemili North. He once served as the senator for Anambra Central and ran for governor of Anambra State multiple times.

He was also a PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) chief.

Okonkwo was last seen in the spotlight when his son, Uche Okonkwo, visited him to give him his certificate of return after winning a seat in the House of Representatives.
