The Katsina State Police Command, in collaboration with the Katsina Community Watch Corps (KTCWC), successfully neutralised numerous suspected armed bandits and recovered 332 rustled animals.

ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, disclosed these developments in a statement on Thursday. He said the joint operation targeted the Burdugau bandit camp in Malumfashi LGA led by notorious bandit kingpin Babayo.

While details regarding the number of neutralised bandits remain undisclosed, Commissioner of Police Aliyu Musa said the operation marks a substantial achievement in the ongoing fight against banditry.

“The raid recovered animals and neutralised bandits, significantly reducing the threat these criminal elements pose to our communities,” CP Musa said.

However, the success came with a price. As disclosed by the Commissioner, one member of the KTCWC and one vigilante group member lost their lives during the raid, while a police officer sustained injuries but is currently recovering.

CP Musa prayed for the repose of the souls’ of the deceased officers and extended his deepest condolences to their families.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the fallen officers. Their bravery, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten,” CP Musa added
