Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State issued a strong warning to his new Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie and his special advisers on Monday.

Fubara cautioned Ehie and his special advisers against using their new office to “antagonise anyone.”

Ehie and the special advisers were sworn in at the Executive Council Chambers on Monday.

All six appointees supported Governor Fubara during the political crisis in the state.

Speaking during the swearing-in, Fubara urged them to set aside partisanship and contribute to the growth of the state.

He cautioned Ehie and his appointees against using his office to fight his opponents.

According to Fubara: “Let me add: don’t use this position to antagonise anybody, even in your localities. I want to speak to you and I will continue to say that what God cannot do does not exist.

“That you succeeded in battle is not because of your power. It is the grace of God. When God says it will not happen again, whoever you are, it ceases from that moment. I am not appointing you today because I want you to go to your areas and start fighting, no.”

Ehie, who is a loyalist of Fubara, resigned as Speaker as part of the peace pact the governor signed with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Fubara and Wike have been at loggerheads over the control of the state’s political structure.

President Tinubu had intervened and prevailed on the duo to sign a peace pact
