The Federal Government has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration never promised immediate miracles or overnight fixes to Nigeria’s deep-seated challenges, emphasizing that its primary focus remains on long-term, sustainable development. Senate President Godswill Akpabio made this declaration while representing President Tinubu at the official inauguration of a newly completed seven-kilometer access road and bridge project, which serves as a critical bypass to the second runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Akpabio explained that the administration’s baseline strategy, encapsulated in the Renewed Hope Agenda, is deliberately centered on executing strategic policies aimed at delivering permanent progress rather than applying temporary, cosmetic solutions. He maintained that the government is fully aware of the public’s economic anxieties but insists that building infrastructure is the most practical way to structurally improve the citizen’s quality of life. Defending the pace of the administration’s economic and structural reforms, Akpabio asserted that when they came into office, they did not promise miracles that would appear from thin air, but rather promised structural, calculated, and deliberate progress.
The Senate President further reiterated that the ongoing national reforms are intended to fundamentally touch the lives of every Nigerian citizen by addressing the reality of their daily struggles rather than just relying on superficial economic statistics. He urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the current administration, reassuring the public that the painful but necessary policy adjustments currently being implemented across various sectors will ultimately yield tangible improvements and long-term economic stability for the nation.
